Steel sheet or iron sheet is a metal whose surface is flatter than iron, steel or any other metal and is produced from steel ingot or billet. Steel sheet is one of the most important and widely used steel ingot products. Steel sheets are named according to the production method or raw materials.

One of the methods of making and grading steel sheet is cold rolled steel sheet, which is a simple process. In this method, the iron ingot is placed between two rotating rollers at the top and bottom and changes its shape by continuous movement and applying pressure on the surface of the ingot. In this method, the steel sheet is washed with acid before rolling, and the oxide layers on its surface are cleaned. Finally, the steel sheet is subjected to heat treatment and annealing. The cold rolled steel sheet has a higher quality than the hot rolled steel sheet, and its surface is also of a higher quality. The steel sheet removed from this part is known as white steel sheet. The output sheets from the cold rolling method are oil sheets, which we deal with separately. Placing the iron ingot between the two-roller stands or the roughing stand, which has two rotating rollers at the top and bottom.

In the hot rolling method, heat equivalent to 1400 Fahrenheit or more is applied to the steel billet and the sheet is formed by moving between these rolls. Forming the sheet should be done in a suitable way. The steel sheet output from this process has a diameter equivalent to 1.16 inches to 5.16 inches. The steel sheet that comes out of this process is the black steel sheet. The details of the production of steel sheets are very different, and due to these different methods, various types of sheets are obtained.

Black sheet, which is also called hot sheet, is produced in 2 types, industrial and normal, and in different standards. To measure the quality of the black sheet, an index called ST is used, which is between the numbers St33 and St52 in the sheet. This designation is based on the amount of carbon in the sheet material, so that St33 sheet has the lowest amount of carbon and therefore more flexibility than other qualities and ST52 sheet has the highest amount of carbon and therefore very little flexibility. The quality and materials used in the structure directly affect the price of the black sheet.

If we want to know what is the most widely used steel sheet, we should mention another important category of steel sheet, oil sheet or cold rolled sheet. This sheet, which is the base of all types of coated iron sheets, is subjected to rolling at a temperature lower than the recrystallization temperature. Therefore, after the end of the operation, due to the smaller temperature difference with the ambient temperature, less shrinkage occurs during the cooling of the sheet temperature. This less shrinkage means better dimensional accuracy of the sheet compared to the sheets produced in hot rolling.

Another type of iron sheet is acid wash sheet. After the production of the sheet in the hot rolling process, iron oxide is formed on the surface of the sheet due to the high temperature of the sheet and continuous spraying of water on its surface for cooling in the rolling process. Now, in order to remove the oxidized shells on the surface of the sheet, an acid washing process is performed on it.

Colored sheet is another type of steel sheet that is obtained by placing galvanized sheets in paint spraying furnaces. Of course, before entering the furnace, the process of polishing, washing and drying is done. The colored sheet is actually a galvanized sheet covered with an electrostatic color coating. Colored steel sheets are produced and marketed in 15 different colors and are usually used in the production of shed roofs, gazebos and lofts, production of home and office appliances, construction of cooling and heating equipment, and many other cases.
