Industrial mold is one of the production tools in the industry that can produce parts with specific shapes and sizes. In industrial production, a variety of presses and special tools are used to transform metallic or non-metallic materials into parts or products of desired shape through pressure. These tools are the same formats that we are discussing. Molds are like a hollow block that is filled with flexible materials such as plastic, glass, metal or ceramic raw materials under pressure. After that, the material hardens inside the mold and takes the shape of the mold. Molds are divided into different types according to the function and materials being molded, among which we can mention casting mold, plastic mold and injection mold.
Types of industrial molds
These templates have different types, each of which is used for specific materials and situations. Here we will examine these formats.
Casting molds
Casting molds are for parts that are produced by casting. Now, the casting process itself is done in different ways based on different materials and characteristics, each of which requires a special mold. Among the different types of casting molds, the following can be mentioned:
Sand mold
Sand mold is the cheapest type of casting mold, which, as the name suggests, uses sand for molding. These molds can withstand the high temperature of metals, even steel. The molten metal is poured into a sand mold and then shaped into a mold. In these molds, besides sand, another sticky material such as clay is also used.
The molding mold
Among other industrial molds, which is under the casting molds, is the Rijeh mold. These molds are used to make metal parts that do not have the same thickness and strength is important in them. Regular molds are made of steel and are smaller and lighter than diecast molds. However, their manufacturing technology is complicated and therefore more expensive. The parts that are made through the mold are usually non-porous.
Dykast mold
To make parts that are produced by the die-cast method, a die-cast mold should be used. For example, parts that are made of aluminum, copper or zinc and have a thickness of 1.5 to 15 mm are produced with a die cast mold. These molds are also expensive because they are made of resistant steel. Since diecast mold is made with high pressure tolerance, it is also known as High Pressure mold.
Plastic injection mold
Plastic injection molds are another type of industrial molds that are used to make plastic parts. Making plastic parts through plastic injection molding is a cost-effective method and many people use it. Since these molds are mostly made of steel and have a complex manufacturing technology, their manufacturing cost is also high. These molds have two parts, which are the fixed part where the injection of hot materials is done and the moving part which is connected to the moving part of the machine and the ejection of the part is done from there.
Forging mold
In blacksmithing, strong steel molds are used to shape the parts. Here, the part is placed between the two halves of the mold and then it takes the shape of the mold with the pressure of the press or hammer. There are three types of forging molds: closed forging mold, open forging mold and closed forging mold.
Press template
The last industrial mold we discuss is the press mold, which is used to shape, cut, stretch and bend parts. These molds are usually made of steel and due to their characteristics, they are not suitable for making parts that do not have malleable materials.
