Plastic injection machines consist of feeding hopper, spiral injection drill and thermal unit. The molds are locked in the clamp plates of the machine and then the plastic is created from the sprue opening to the inner mold and the injection piece. Injection devices are divided into different tonnages depending on the amount of applied force of their clamping plates. This force keeps the mold stable during the injection process. The tonnage of the machine can range from 5 to 6000 tons, and of course, very high tonnages are relatively less useful. The clamping force required is determined by the imaged area of the part. Then, for each square inch of this imaged area, a factor between 2 and 8 tons is multiplied and the required clamping force is obtained. As a general rule, 4 or 5 tons per square inch is an acceptable number for the majority of injection molded parts. If the plastic used is very dry, we will need more injection pressure to fill the mold, and as a result, a higher clamping force will be required to hold the mold. Also, the required clamping force may be determined by the type of consumables and the dimensions of the piece: Larger plastic pieces will require more clamping force. At present, with the presence of all-electric machines, the arena is getting narrower and narrower on common hydraulic injection machines. Relevant companies prefer these machines to common hydraulic models because of the 80% energy saving and almost 100% repeatability made possible thanks to the presence of the servo motor. While the price of an electric injection molding machine is about 30% higher than a conventional hydraulic machine, the large demand for plastic products is overcoming this financial barrier. There is speculation that hydraulic injection machines will be a thing of the past in the next 20 years, because every day, due to the competitive environment, more and more companies are moving into the new world of electric machines.
