Some beauty stores or manufacturing companies have restrictions on what containers they take back and when they take them back. If you are unsure about recycling your containers at your company, call and ask first. Additionally, there are some recycling companies that accept cosmetic containers as well. Before you throw away cosmetics, you can contact some product recycling companies and see if they also recycle cosmetic containers. Put your empty plastic or glass cosmetic containers in the curbside recycling area. If your city offers curbside recycling, eyeshadow palettes and pressed powders can be placed in the recycling bin. Glass perfume or foundation bottles can be placed in the glass recycling bin. First of all, make sure that the containers are clean and free of cosmetics. Most cities have recycling programs that accept plastic, as long as the plastic isn't extremely thin or small. If you're not sure what type of plastic your city's recycling accepts, contact support and check. Note that mascara and lipstick tubes cannot be recycled, even if they are made of plastic.
