What is the accelerator? Types of accelerator
Speed breaker is an obstacle to reduce the speed of cars, which is installed in different areas. Normally, this traffic barrier is most used in places where vehicles and pedestrians are close together. Places such as schools, crosswalks, bus stops, shopping centers and similar items are included in the list of areas where there are definitely speed bumps. In general, the speed limiter is installed to protect the safety of pedestrians. By reducing the speed of the car in these areas, there is enough time for the driver and the pedestrian to make the right decision in case of a problem; But in the absence of this obstacle, we may see accidents every day in the mentioned areas.
To pass this traffic obstacle, the driver must reduce the speed of his car to 20 km per hour, below the speed limit. This amount of deceleration and the slow passing of the car through the speed bump provides pedestrians with the opportunity to make a decision to pass. If the car does not slow down while passing these traffic obstacles, it may cause damage to the car. The level of damages is directly related to the speed of the vehicle. This means that the higher the speed of the car when passing the speed limiter, the more the damage to the car will be. The classification of types of speed breakers is determined based on the type of raw materials used in it.
A variety of traffic accelerators based on the ingredients
Accelerators are divided into three categories based on the primary materials that make it up. These types include: plastic speed limiter, rubber speed limiter and asphalt speed limiter.
Plastic accelerator
The material of this traffic barrier is made of hard polyethylene and has a very good resistance to pressure. Plastic speed bumps are produced like pieces of a puzzle. Then, based on the width of the desired street, they are installed next to each other. Therefore, when a piece is broken or separated, it can be quickly removed and replaced, and there is no need to replace and repair the entire speed limiter. This action also saves the cost of repair.
Rubber accelerator
Rubber speed bumps, unlike other types of speed bumps, are better compatible with car tires. The rubber and flexible material of the rubber speed limiter has the advantage of causing less damage to the car when the car collides with this traffic obstacle. In very hot weather conditions, the asphalt may crack; But due to its very light weight and flexibility, the rubber speed limiter can withstand up to 50 tons of load.
Asphalt accelerator
The most economical type of speed breaker is the model made of asphalt. It is possible to save significantly in the construction of this traffic barrier; But shaping the asphalt to turn it into a speed bump is a bit difficult.
How to install rubber and plastic speeds
Plastic and rubber speed breakers are installed side by side because of their puzzle-shaped structure. To install these speed breakers, after determining the installation location, rubber and plastic speed breakers are placed next to each other using special adhesives, and then they are fixed to the ground with the help of special screws. Improper installation of speed breakers can also cause accidents. Because when a piece of the speed bump puzzle is separated, most cars intend to pass through the separated part in order not to slow down. Therefore, in order to prevent this, one should be careful in its installation and maintenance.
Application of speeds
The first and main use of speed bumps is to protect the lives of pedestrians; But this traffic barrier has other uses as well. One of the most important ones that you have seen on most roads is the installation of a speed limiter before reaching intercity police and checkpoints. These traffic barriers are very useful for reducing the speed of passing vehicles and for their inspection by the police and traffic police. Also, in the routes leading to the toll booths, this traffic barrier is installed in several numbers in a row.
