Spruce is a tree from the willow group, whose other name is Sepidar. Fir wood is used in various industries. When the fir tree reaches six years old, it has a good yield for harvesting wood. This tree is grown in different areas. But the fir wood obtained in the city of Golpayegan is very unique and resistant. Therefore, it can be said that Golpayegan is the cradle of spruce tree cultivation in Iran. This tree has very strong roots that easily penetrate into different places in the soil; Therefore, these trees should not be planted near residential areas and next to water pipes and underground facilities. For this reason, towering fir trees are usually seen in areas outside the city.

Fir wood can be harvested at the age of 6 to 15 years. The height of this tree in this period of time can reach about twenty five meters. Fir wood is one of the most used woods in the wood and furniture industries. The wood of a young fir tree is white and sometimes greenish, and the older it gets, the color of the wood becomes closer to brown. There are also grooves on its surface that are sometimes deep and sometimes semi-deep.

The growth rate of fir tree is very high, and for this reason, it is used in wood industry more than other woods. Another feature of this type of wood is its price, which is more suitable compared to other types of wood. Among the characteristics of this wood, which makes it highly demanded in various industries, is its malleability and light weight. These two characteristics have made fir wood one of the best choices for carpenters in making various wooden tools.

Fir tree is also known by other names. In addition to Sepidar, it is also called Asina, Tabrizi, Raji, Kobode and Sefidar. You can usually see the fir tree on the main routes and on the side of the roads. This is done as a barrier called a wind breaker. Also, it has been customary to plant this tree in gardens and old houses, whose height has reached about 18 to 25 meters.
