History of Semirom

The discovery of ancient works, including Ashkeft Zar cave inscriptions, cuneiform inscriptions, early Islamic tombstones, stone elephants left over from the Sassanid era, indicate that Samirim dates back to 700 BC and the Achaemenid period. . Also, the historical history of Semiram's urbanization is estimated to be related to the Kasian period. The proof of this claim is the existence of a farm called Kore in the south of Semiram city, which now has ruins of several houses and bathrooms. The presence of a bath in the pre-Islamic era was one of the indicators of the city of Semiram; Also, during the Achaemenid period, the city was called Korah, so giving the name Korah to this area is another reason to prove the claim that the city of Semiram existed in ancient times. The city of Semiram has gone through a period of ups and downs and has seen many wars and looting during many periods. This city was separated from Abadeh city in Fars province in 1325 and became subordinate to Isfahan province, and finally in 1342 it was chosen as the center of Semiram city.

Culture and Culture of Semirom City

Due to its ancient history, Semiram city has a very rich and ancient culture and civilization, and many ancient and religious ceremonies are held in every corner of this city. The way of performing these ceremonies is different from other regions depending on the culture of the people in each region and village of this city. Some of these ceremonies, such as Chaharbansuri, Nowruz Eid, Yalda Night, Ramadan, Muharram mourning, etc., are held similarly to other Iranian cities; But there are some other beliefs and customs, such as spreading nuts to solve problems and the multi-stage Shab Chele ceremony, which is specific to this city. In the multi-stage ceremony of Yalda night, the people of this region first light a fire and read poetry and rejoice. After setting up the fire, they go to visit the elders and eat local foods around the Yalda night table, including the old woman's soup and Yalda night foods such as apples, walnuts, etc.
