Components of an exhaust system

Exhaust Output Manifold

This part collects the exhaust gases from each cylinder from the combustion chamber of the engine and directs them to the exhaust pipe. To increase the efficiency of the exhaust manifold, it is usually made of cast iron or steel with special bends.

exhaust pipes:

In the car exhaust system, there are a series of pipes that connect the manifold and the exhaust warehouse. These pipes must be designed in a principled way in terms of the material, length and radius of the arcs.

Catalytic Converter:

What this fragment does is clear from its name. This piece uses a catalyst or substance such as platinum, palladium, rhodium or a chemical substance that causes a series of chemical reactions to take place. The catalytic converter converts the harmful pollutants created in the combustion chamber of the engine into water vapor and carbon dioxide. Actually, the action of oxidation takes place, which converts carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide and converts hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide and water. Although carbon dioxide gas is still harmful to the atmosphere, it is less harmful than the gases produced by the engine

This part usually has good resistance, but they fail due to leaking exhaust, burning gasoline, incomplete engine fuel or external damage. When the catalytic converter starts to fail, you may notice a rotten egg smell and 2 check engine lights will come on. Unfortunately, replacing this catalytic converter can be expensive due to the use of precious metals such as cerium, platinum, rhodium or manganese in its construction.
