Khormouj Castle is one of the most attractive places in Khormouj city. Khormoj is one of the small cities in Bushehr province, which is about 90 km away from Bushehr city and has a variety of agricultural products. The word Khormoj is composed of two words Khor meaning sun and Moj meaning palm; It means the city of palms and the sun. Although this historical work is considered one of the most magnificent examples of Qajar period architecture, the architectural style of this castle is similar to the buildings of the Seljuq and Sassanid periods. The decorations of this castle are original and unique, and the archway and stucco have added beauty to the walls and inside of this castle. This beautiful castle was registered in the list of national works of Iran in 1379.

History of Khormoj Castle
The construction of this castle dates back to about 150 years ago; A person named Mohammad Khan Dashti, the then ruler of this region, ordered the construction of this fort. It is a beautiful Khormouj castle with 4 mud towers and walls 10 to 12 meters high. Although Khormouj Castle was vast in the past, many parts of it were destroyed during the past years and today only one of the towers of this beautiful castle remains. Mohammad Khan Dashti ruled in this fort for about 20 years and then Jamal Khan Dashti built a beautiful plaster castle in the southwest part of it. In the middle of the first Pahlavi period, this fort was captured by the army, and after the destruction of this building, only Jamal Khan tower remained. At that time, Khormoj Castle was considered as the tallest building in Khormoj city and all parts of the city could be seen from its top.
