What is the difference between indoor and outdoor plants?

This difference is mainly caused by the tolerance of the weather conditions by the plant. Of course, all plants are originally outdoor plants, but the plants that we call houseplants or apartment plants are plants that do not tolerate cold or very hot temperatures, have a long lifespan, and grow well in pots.

temperature tolerance

House plants are plants that grow at temperatures between 15 and 26 degrees Celsius. Most houseplants that grow well in this temperature range are tropical plants. Tropical plants like warm and humid weather, but they don't need constant direct sunlight. Plants grown outdoors tolerate a wider temperature range. These plants usually need more direct sunlight. Another important thing for outdoor plants is air circulation. These plants usually need a lot of air circulation, and if they are planted indoors (where air circulation is low), they will not stay healthy.

types of

Some common house plants include: pepromia, petus, ficus, wheatgrass, aloe vera, etc. These plants are all tropical plants. Popular outdoor plants include: ornamental shrubs, creepers, vegetables and annual and perennial flowers.

The difference in the rest period

Most outdoor plants have a visible resting period where the plant appears to be dead! During this period, the plant gradually loses its leaves and dies. Annual plants survive only one growing season and die after producing flowers and fruits. But perennial plants resume their activity after a period of rest. Some indoor plants also go through a period of rest. These plants generally go to rest in autumn and winter. Some of these plants look pale and tired during this period!

تفاوت بین گیاهان درون و بیرون خانه چیست؟
Planting house plants outside the house

Some plants can be grown both indoors and outdoors. Of course, this is provided that you bring the plant indoors during the winter. Many houseplants like to be outdoors during the summer. Since most of the plants we grow indoors are tropical plants, they like the humid air outside. The breeze that flows outside the house also destroys fungal diseases and pests. To put house plants outside, wait until the temperature outside the house reaches above 10 degrees Celsius at night, then move the plant outside. Place the plant in a place with some shade because most houseplants cannot tolerate direct sunlight outside the house.

Growing garden plants indoors

Certain outdoor plants, such as vegetables, can also be grown indoors. Place these plants on the edge of a south-facing window, or anywhere the plant can get 5 hours of direct sunlight per day. If you think that the light inside your house is not enough to grow these plants, use LED lamps to solve the lack of plant light. The best types of vegetables that you can grow indoors are those that are smaller in size and therefore take up less space in the house.
