Types of CCTV cables

CCTV

Based on the type of closed circuit system, the type of cable is determined. CCTV cable types include: coaxial cable Combined coaxial cable Network or Internet cable (Lan) CCTV wire Fiber optic

Coaxial cable: Coaxial cable or analog CCTV image cable is an electrical cable that transmits radio frequency signals from one point to another. Combined coaxial cable: These cables are a type of coaxial cable that also has a power cable attached to it. As a result, this type takes up less space inside the duct.

Lan cable: Network cable or Lan is a cable that is used in networked systems. If there is POE technology with this cable, in addition to sending images, electricity is also transmitted.

Coaxial CCTV and its varieties

Coaxial cable technology has been around since the early 20th century, and due to its durability and ease of installation, these cables are mainly used to connect satellite antenna equipment in homes and organizations. There are different types of coaxial cable that differ based on measurement and impedance. What is RG cable? RG stands for Radio Gauge, and Gauge refers to the thickness of the cable. This thickness is indicated by the number next to RG. The higher the RG number, the thinner the core or central conductor. Coaxial cable has a thick and round shape that is different from other cables. You can easily distinguish this type of CCTV wire and cable from other cables such as twisted pair cables or Ethernet cables. The most common coaxial cables are RG-6, RG-11 and RG59. What is RG-6 cable (RG6)? RG-6 cables have larger conductors, so they provide better signal quality. Also, they have thicker dielectric insulation and their shield type is different. This allows them to handle GHz-level signals more efficiently. Because this type of cable is thin, it can be easily installed in walls or ceilings. What is the RG-59 cable (RG59)? It is a common cable in domestic and domestic connections and uses. RG-59 cable is similar to RG-6 except that it has a thinner core conductor. This type of cable is very suitable for running short distances and low frequency transmission. There are two main types of coaxial cables, one with an impedance of 75 ohms (Ω) and another with an impedance of 50 ohms. 75 ohm cables are mostly used for video signals. In contrast, 50 ohm cables are used for data and wireless communication.

Coaxial cable components

The shielded design of coaxial cables allows the core to transmit data quickly while being protected from damage and interference. Most coaxial cables consist of the following four layers: The core of the cable or the central conductor, which is usually a copper wire, through which data and video pass. The insulation around the copper wire is plastic and dielectric. Shield layer or woven mesh made of copper, alloy or aluminum. This layer helps protect the cable from electromagnetic interference (EMI). Finally, the outer layer, which is a plastic cover, protects the inner layers from damage.

Coaxial cable performance

The way the coaxial cable works is that the data is carried in the core or central conductor. The first layer on the brain, which is called dielectric, is the distance between the conductor of the core (brain) and the external layers, which plays the role of insulation.
