According to FIFA standards, the rubber granule injected on the sports artificial grass should cover 30% of the total weight of the grass. Another filler material, which is silica sand, should make up 70% of the total weight of the artificial grass. Of course, nowadays in European countries, more silica is used and the quantity of granules is reduced.
Ribbon granules and football artificial grass
In grass with a thread height of 50 mm (football grass), 5 to 7 kg of granules should be injected per square meter of grass. Usually, this type of grass is produced and woven with a density of 140 knots per square meter. For this reason, a larger volume of granules should be injected into it. In addition, about 20 to 25 kg of silica sand should be injected per square meter of grass.
Rubber granules and decorative artificial grass
Usually decorative artificial grasses are woven with a density of 180 to 200 knots per square meter. For this reason, they are denser than football grass models. So definitely the use of granules in this type of grass will be less. Usually, half to one kilogram of granule is used per square meter to inject granules into the grass of 20 to 45 mm models.
Rubber Granules and artificial grass of kindergarten and schools
In schools and kindergartens, if artificial sports grass is used, it needs filler. But these silica and granules cause a little pollution of the earth. In fact, there have been complaints of sand getting into shoes and clothes turning black due to contact with rubber granules. For this reason, a smaller amount of silica and granules can be used in these school and kindergarten spaces. However, geotextile layers must be used to increase the impactability of the grass.

Granular injection method on artificial grass
Grass granules are added to the lawn after injecting sand. Therefore, silica sand is injected first and then a granule is spread on the ground. As mentioned, 5 kg of granules are injected per square meter of football and futsal fields. You can use the manual method for spreading on the ground.
In the second method, injection is done using mechanical or electric brushing devices. In lands above 250 square meters, using this method makes the injection uniform throughout the land.
Note that the brush machine, in addition to the uniform injection of silica sand and granules throughout the ground, also causes the recovery of artificial grass threads and increases their stability. For this reason, brushing is usually done once every six to eight months in large sports fields.
Unlike silica sand, granule renewal is rarely done on grass. Because the granules can maintain their elasticity and be used for years. At the time of injection, it must be spread evenly on the ground. Otherwise, a part of the ground will be filled with more granules and will be marked in black color. Proper distribution on the ground will increase the quality and life of the artificial grass. This uniform distribution on the ground is done by manual or electric brushing machines.
The price of artificial grass granules
Grass granules in sizes of 3 to 5 mm are approximately 3500 to 5000 Tomans per kilogram of the product. The quality of rubber granules has an effect on its price, and the higher the quality of this product is, the higher the quality of the product. Grass granule deposited in Shiraz Chaman is for use in sports projects. But free sale above one ton is also possible. The delivery of rubber granules in Shiraz is one day and it is available all over the country, depending on the purchase amount. The highest price of rubber granules is for green granules. This product will definitely show a better view due to being combined with artificial grass. But this green product is rarely found in Iran. Usually, between every 1000 football sports fields, one field has green granules.
