What is the gear?

Types of gears are parts that are used to transfer or change the direction of power between two axes. On the circumference of the gear wheel, there are teeth with equal distance. After engaging with the teeth of the adjacent gear, these teeth transmit power between them. Gears can be classified in different ways.

Based on the appearance, gears are divided into involute, cycloidal and trochoidal types. In terms of shaft position, they can be classified as parallel axis, cross axis, non-parallel axis and non-cross axis. The age of the gear wheel is very long. As found in the writings of Archimedes, its use in ancient Greece dates back to the period before Christ.
