Mirror work is an art that has existed for a long time and is still used as a method to decorate the facade and interior of the building. In this method, mirrors are cut into various shapes and small pieces such as geometric shapes or flowers and are glued together so that they can form a coherent whole.
This method can not only bring beauty by itself; Rather, by reflecting light, it can make the space look bigger and double the beauty and brilliance of the environment. With a simple technique, you can even create a suitable cover for the walls, which are both strong and beautiful, and can cover the defects of the wall well.
Mirror History
Mirror work is an old art and has been able to open its place in the interior design and construction of buildings since the early centuries. However, this art was used for the first time in the city of Qazvin during the reign of Shah Tahmasb Safavid. In 965 A.H. By the order of Shah Tahmasb, they used the mirror work in his court house.
However, in 1007 A.H. And when the capital was moved from Qazvin to Isfahan, this art reached its peak first with mirror work in the city of Behshahr and Ashraf Palace and then in the 137 royal palace in Isfahan. The mirror house is the most famous palace in which mirror work has been done and this fame is due to the high number of mirrors that have been used in the palace. In this building, 18 out of 40 columns are mirrored, and mirrors have been used integrally in the ceiling and wall.
What is Mirror Tools?
Mirror work requires many tools and equipment to be able to cut the mirror well and attach it to the desired location. To cut the mirror, a ruler, mirror diamond, spatula and design pen are used, and to stick it, you need glue, soft plaster and glue. These materials can be varied depending on where the mirror is installed. The mirror can be installed on any wall, from oil and ceramic walls to straw and wooden walls. In addition to the mentioned items, stone powder is used, and in addition, white or black cement is needed to be able to connect the mirror in the best way.
How is the art of mirrors done?
To perform mirror work, it is necessary to go through the steps carefully and one after the other. In this way, you can be sure that the result of the work will be completely favorable and will proceed according to your expectations. These steps are as follows:
🔰 The design that is going to be placed on the wall is determined. The designer or architect prepares this plan and draws it on paper. After that, they put needles on the design and in this way they create many holes on the lines. Finally, the design is ready to be pasted on the work surface.
🔰 Start pollinating the design that was attached on the work surface until the pollen is transferred to the lower surface through the pores and in this way the final design is on the wall. to appear. Finally, they stick the cut mirrors on the wall with the help of special glue.
If the desired design has bumps and depressions, it is necessary to first put the design on the wall with a plaster and design the bumps and depressions. Finally, the mirror must be cut. Pay attention that in this case they do not separate the mirror from each other. Rather, they put a cardboard pattern behind it and implement the plan. The person who is going to stick the mirror prepares a paste of plaster and head and then sticks it on the back of the cardboard pattern. Then he moves the mirror to its place and tries to determine the depressions and protrusions with the help of the pressure he applies on these parts. Finally, it cleans and shines the mirrors.
