Gears
The purpose of all gears is to transfer power between a system and to be able to achieve a wide range of speeds or loads for a fixed range of input speeds or loads. This is done by changing the gear ratio. A gear ratio is defined by the number of revolutions the input must complete for one revolution of the output.
