Use a magnet
The first and easiest way to distinguish the original brass samovar from other types is to use a magnet. Brass alloy is not attracted to magnets, so if you bring a magnet close to the samovar and the magnet is attracted to the samovar, you will find out that it is not the original brass samovar and only rice plating has been used on it.
🟪 Creating scratches on samovar
By making a small scratch on the brass samovar, the effect left behind is shiny, but the samovar with brass plating, the scratch left on them, will not be shiny.
Use plastic
If the samovar is hot, you can identify the original brass samovar by bringing a piece of plastic to it. Plastic does not stick to original brass samovars. Therefore, if the plastic sticks to the samovar, it means that the samovar in question has only brass plating.
