Types of boat engines
🟤 internal engine
The internal engines are located inside the boat body. Inboard engines are four-stroke automobile engines that have been modified for use in water. These motors feed a drive shaft that is connected to the propeller. An inboard motor is a marine propulsion system for boats. An inboard engine is an engine enclosed in the hull of the boat, usually connected to the propeller by a drive shaft.
🟤 Foreign engine
An outboard motor is a propulsion system for boats that consists of an independent unit that includes an engine, a gearbox and a propeller or jet drive, and is designed to be installed on the outside of the transit
🔲 Types of foreign engines
Most of the engines that are used for boats are external engines that are available in different types.
Electric boat engine
Electric outboard motors are propulsion units for boats that were first invented in 1973. Most electric outboards have 0.5 to 4 kW direct current (DC) electric motors that operate at 12 to 60 volts DC. Recently, outboard motors have been designed to be powered by an alternating current (AC) or DC electric motor in their head, like a conventional gasoline engine. or produce more and can replace the gasoline engine of 15 horsepower or more. The advantage of the induction or asynchronous motor is the transfer of power to the rotor using electromagnetic induction. Because these motors do not use permanent magnets, they require less maintenance and produce more torque at lower RPMs. These types of engines are more suitable for fishing and recreation in calm waters.

Gasoline boat engine
If you don't mind losing a bit of the back of your boat with an outboard motor and are looking for a high-performance engine, the gasoline is probably the best option. Gasoline engines are great for water sports, shorter trips, and are generally a better choice for smaller boats. The advantages of gasoline engine are:
- They are quieter than diesel engines.
- Gasoline engines generally offer higher performance.
- Cheaper to purchase and service.
- ul>Gasoline inflatable boat engines are produced in two types, two-stroke and four-stroke. The difference between these two types is that in the four-stroke engine, gasoline and oil are poured into the engine separately, while in the two-stroke engine, they are poured into the tank together. Gasoline engines are produced in different powers. For example, engines produced by Yamaha are available up to 300 horsepower.🔘 four-stroke boat engineFour-stroke outboard engines, which are gasoline outboard engines, have been in use since the late 1920s. However, in 1962 a 55-horsepower outboard motor based on the Crosley 4-cylinder car engine was introduced by Homelite and met with great success. Over time, other types of 4-stroke boat engines with higher power and more advantages were produced by different companies. The advantages are as follows:
- Less pollution (especially oil in water)
- Reduction The amount of sound produced by the engine
- Saving fuel consumption
- Increasing the amount of torque per minute
