How to keep leather shoes
How to maintain leather shoes is very important, because the lifespan of leather shoes depends on how well they are cared for. In fact, due to the presence of organic materials from animal skin products, leather products have unique characteristics that require proper maintenance. Along with the unique characteristics of leather shoes, the passage of air and water (in a very small amount), absorption of dust and Dirt is another main characteristic of these shoes. Although leather is resistant to the penetration of bacteria and all kinds of fungi, over time and with the lack of proper handling and as a result of the accumulation of all kinds of pollution, the beauty and lifespan of leather shoes will be reduced to a minimum. Enjoy your leather and don't have to pay for buying new men's or women's shoes every time (in general, leather products are expensive), you need to learn how to properly maintain leather shoes
Your shoes should be cleaned after each use. For this purpose, use a brush and cloth to clean the shoes. Also, after every 10 to 12 wearing of shoes and daily cleaning with a brush and cloth, "wax" the shoes. Leather shoes are a very delicate product, so you don't need to brush the shoes in most cases to remove the wrinkles. Use "nourishing creams" that slow down the deterioration process. Shoe creams easily penetrate the leather. For basic cleaning, the shoe brush should be neither too soft nor too hard. Being too soft causes the shoes to not be completely cleaned of dirt, and the hardness of the brush causes destruction and wear on the surface layer of the leather. In order for leather shoes to breathe better, you need to use a very small amount of softening cream. Pour a few small drops of the cream on the shoe, then spread it all over the shoe with a brush and soft movements. Too much use of cream causes clogging of the very small pores of the leather and the lack of air passage.
Clean the shoes when they are completely dry. Allow the shoes to dry at room temperature and avoid placing them next to heat sources (heaters, heaters), as excessive heat will harden the leather. If the leather shoes are very wet, dry them with a small towel to remove some of the surface moisture, then place them in a corner of the house to dry completely. Wet leather shoes need time to dry. Avoid wearing them continuously and daily if they are not dry yet, this is one of the important principles of maintaining leather shoes. It is necessary to have another pair of shoes to solve this problem.
The correct steps of waxing leather shoes:
Step 1: Before starting to wax, you must provide the necessary space for the cleaning operation. For this purpose, spread a large cloth or several layers of newspapers in a corner of the house so that wax and dust do not enter the rest of the house.
Step 2: With a clean cloth, start wiping the dust on the surface of the shoe. This will open the holes on the shoe and thus make waxing easier. (If the dust is not removed, it will be mixed with the wax and go to the leather)
Step 3: If dirt has accumulated between the seam of the upper and the sole of the shoe, clean it using a toothbrush. For this purpose, soak the bristles of the toothbrush in water until it is completely wet, then pull firmly on the seam (the bristles of the toothbrush must be firm), or you can use a clean cloth and the tip of your index finger.
Step 4: Waxing is one of the most important steps in how to maintain leather shoes. To do this, take the special wax brush and dip it in wax, then run the brush on the front, sides and back of the shoe until the entire shoe is waxed. (Use very little wax)
Step 5: Now it's time to shine the shoes. Hold the shoe with one hand and brush with the other hand, now start to draw the brush on the shoe with longitudinal movements (back and forth). Do not do this with full pressure, gently drag the bristles of the brush over the surface of the shoe. At this stage, if you are using a cream type instead of a normal (traditional) wax, you need to apply a few drops of cream to different parts of the shoe, then spread the cream over the entire surface of the shoe with a clean cloth. Pull the cloth on the shoe until there is no trace of the cream and it is well absorbed by the leather.
