Various works of art have been left from distant times. Stone figures have been more durable than other works of art, and different stone works from different eras and different tribes have been left behind, while most of the wooden works have been lost over time. The ancient Greeks made figures in the shape of their gods and placed them in temples; Egyptians also made statues for their dead, and other tribes also made statues according to their customs and traditions.
