When you are going to build a garden, planting seedlings is the most important step that determines the success of your investment. You may lose your garden in a short period of time or you may enjoy having such a garden for many years. It is very important how to plant seedlings. Even if you choose the best varieties of trees, but you do not perform the pruning operation well, in fact, you have wasted all your efforts.
Steps and Principles of Planting Seedlings:
If you are new and have no experience in gardening; Even if you are going to plant a few trees for your small garden, we suggest that you study the steps of planting seedlings carefully and then start working: 1- Prepare the purchased seedlings.
It is necessary to prepare these young trees to enter the garden the day before planting seedlings. The day before planting, take out the roots of the seedlings from the plastic bags around them and place the entire root part in water. This action is for the purpose that the root absorbs enough water and when it enters the soil, it is not wasted due to the large difference in osmotic potential with the soil.
2- The depth of the holes should be determined according to the depth of the root.
When you are going to plant the seedling, you should first find the location of the collar. This point is where the root joins the aerial part, so you will be able to calculate the depth of the root by finding the collar. Now you need to prepare the holes. A very important point in planting seedlings is that the depth of the hole is exactly equal to the depth of the root and its width is 2-3 times the width of the root. Note that if the seedling depth is too deep, it will not be able to produce new roots and as a result, the roots will also die due to lack of oxygen. It can be safely said that the most important step in planting seedlings is determining the depth of the hole.

3- Adjust the angle of planting the seedling.
At the time of planting, ask someone to hold the seedling for you so that it is completely flat and perpendicular to the ground. After that, start filling the pit. After the hole is filled, the seedling should not be moved because the roots will be damaged.
4-Fill the pit gradually.
Do not fill the pit at once to plant seedlings. Do the soiling slowly and hit the soil every time to remove excess air. This action is done so that the presence of excess air does not cause drying of the roots.
5-Sprinkling mulch at the foot of the hole
We recommend that after planting the seedlings, you must put some mulch at the foot of the trees to protect the roots from extreme temperature changes. , both to prevent water evaporation and finally to prevent the growth of weeds. Note that the depth of mulching at the foot of the pits should not exceed 10 cm, otherwise the roots will lack oxygen.

️ ️ A few important points about planting seedlings‼ ️
1- If necessary, use a guardian for the seedlings. Your garden may be in a windy area, which can easily cause seedlings to fall asleep. We recommend that a suitable guardian be placed next to the trees at the time of planting seedlings.
2- Until the seedlings are established and the danger is removed, do timely irrigation so that the roots do not dry out. The irrigation cycle is determined depending on the region. If your area is hot, dry or windy, and as a result, water is quickly lost from the soil surface, the irrigation period after planting seedlings should be short. 3- Do not use chemical fertilizers after planting seedlings. Such fertilizers create a very negative osmotic potential and lead to burning of the roots. As mentioned earlier, the use of organic mulches is enough to protect the roots and help them grow.
