What is Jajim?

Jajim is one of the handicrafts of most regions of Iran, which has no lint, is relatively thick and can be used from both sides. Jajims are also made of wool or cotton or a combination of both and are woven in Hamedan, Zanjan and Taleghan regions, which are important and central regions of Iran. In 1348, weaving Jajim was popular among 43 high and middle villages of Taleghan, and it was considered one of the main jobs of rural women in those areas. The width of each Jajim slab made in Taleghan is about 25 cm, and their length is between 2 and 4 meters depending on how they are used. The slabs are usually sewn together and then tied so that the length and width of the jajim product are the same. Jajim has special names in different regions, for example, in Ilam it is known as jul, similarly to the machine with which jul is woven. , July or Julehi and Jule weaving is called Jule. They use tools to weave jajim, but carpet weaving relies entirely on hands and is a completely manual art. Jajim is usually woven in four boards with a large length and a small width, then the boards are sewn together. Jajim is also produced by machine, but it will definitely not have the intimate and traditional feeling of handmade jajim. Jajim looms, Jajim looms, Gilan looms, Mikh, Dafe, Tag, Shamshire, Sardar, Kol, Gurt, Baban and Mako are among the tools used to weave Jajim. Patterns woven in colorful and striped jajims are stair, congress and checkered.
