Black steel pipe fittings and galvanized steel pipe fittings are two common types of pipes that are used for liquid and gas transmission. Both black steel pipe and galvanized pipe are made of steel, however, galvanized pipe has a zinc coating while black pipe does not. As a result, the galvanized pipe is more durable. For transportation, the black steel pipe is more easily eroded than the galvanized pipe, and therefore it is more suitable for transporting gas, and the galvanized pipe is suitable for transporting water instead of gas.
galvanized pipe fittings
It is covered with a layer of zinc, which makes these connections have higher protection against corrosion and prevents the accumulation of mineral deposits that block the pipe. Galvanized pipe is mainly used to carry water to supply domestic and commercial buildings. It may also act as a scaffolding frame to prevent rust.
Galvanized pipe connections are used for numerous outdoor and industrial applications due to the material's ability to protect against corrosion and salt. Galvanized pipe and fittings may be used in most applications with the exception of underground lines. While they work best with cold water lines, they may also be used with hot water. The main advantage of using galvanized fittings is their high resistance to rusting compared to black and copper fittings. Galvanized pipe connections should not be used for gas applications.
steel connections
(black malleable iron connections) is used to connect to black iron pipe. Black iron pipe is used for transporting natural gas and propane in residential use.
Black steel pipe is produced without seams, which makes it a better type for gas transportation and fire sprinkler systems. because it can prevent fire better than galvanized pipe. Black iron pipe is also used for water supply lines due to its high heat resistance in fire sprinkler systems and because of its resistance to water damage. Since it has a dark colored surface that is formed by iron oxide during the manufacturing process, it is called black steel pipe.

The main difference between steel pipe and galvanized pipe is at the surface
The black steel pipe is made without coating and without steam, and for this reason, it is widely used to transfer gas such as propane and natural gas to residential and commercial buildings.
Galvanized pipe has zinc on the surface. fittings, therefore, mineral materials become flaky over time and block the pipe. This will lead to an explosion. Due to this issue, gas transmission by galvanized pipes is dangerous, therefore it is often used in water transportation.
On the other hand, black steel pipe is not suitable for water transportation. The black steel pipes are corroded in the water and the mineral material of the pipe dissolves in the water and blocks the line.
