Quartz
Quartz usually appears in granite as transparent and light gray to white. In polished granite stones, you sometimes feel that you can see the surface of the stone. This sensation is due to the transparency of the quartz crystals, which allows you to see between them. In some granite stones, quartz crystals may have impurity amounts and turn gray or opaque white. But in any case, quartz plays the most important role in the brightness of the granite theme.
Feldspar
is a combination of different minerals that are divided into two main categories: plagioclase feldspar and potassium feldspar. These two types of feldspar are completely different from each other and can have significant differences from each other in terms of appearance. It should be noted that there may be more than one type of feldspar in a granite rock. Now potassium feldspar is more common in granite than plaioclase, but both are common. Knowing the difference between these two types of feldspar is not necessary to recognize granite stones, but knowing their differences can help you better understand the stone. Both types of feldspar can be white, but potassium feldspar is usually light pink or even dark reddish.
Mica and amphibol
The most common accessory minerals in granite are micas and amphiboles. Micas are muscovite or biotite. Muscovite is very bright and transparent while biotite is very dark. Amphibole is also a group of minerals that are scattered throughout the granite in the form of dark crystals.
