The environmental conditions for the cultivation of the Galilean plant are: light: high, humidity: slightly humid, temperature: 25-18, soil: well-drained soil, a combination of peat moss and cocopeat. Gladiolus is a tropical plant from the genus Gladiolus and the family Iridaceae (lilies), native to Madagascar and Abyssinia (Ethiopia), which is widely cultivated in tropical, subtropical and temperate regions. Gardens of this flower are very common in Western Europe. The varieties of this plant have white flowers with a reddish-yellow and sometimes orange patch and are not resistant to cold. Some botanists place this plant in the genus Acidanthera. Glads are also called Glads in English and have onions. (In Farsi, this type of onion is called "Pedageh"). Galil as a cut plant has been established and accepted all over the world for a long time. There are two main types of glial cultivated, the standard type produces one branch with about 30 flowers (inflorescence: spike) from an onion, and the miniature type may produce several flowering branches with less length and number of flowers. In America, the largest production of this plant is in the states of Florida, California and Michigan, and in Iran, the largest amount is cultivated in the cities of Mahalat and Dezful.
Characteristics
Early-flowering lilies bloom from early June and late-flowering lilies until late autumn. From the date of onion planting, flowering of early cultivars takes about 60 to 75 days and late cultivars takes 110 to 120 days. Factors such as Galil variety, onion size, storage conditions, planting depth, planting date and seasonal conditions play a role in Galil flowering.
This plant has a plump bulb and ten fragrant flowers with six white petals (on a purple base) appear on spike inflorescences in late summer, early fall. The leaves are lanceolate and the stems are arched and very attractive. The maximum height is one meter and its width reaches 15 cm.
Glasses maintenance conditions
It is better to water the flowers regularly. But it is sensitive to high humidity. On the other hand, dryness makes the flowering stem short and crooked. Drought stress reduces the number of flowers. Low light causes sterility. The less the light, the shorter the length of the flower cluster. Low light, short days and low temperature at night have reduced the number of flower buds. A long day causes a delay in flowering, but increases the quality of the flower. The length of the day is 12 to 14 hours per day. The imbalance of light and temperature causes the plant to weaken and the flowering stem to remain short. Fresh and disinfected soil is very important. After 2 to 3 years of cultivation, the type of substrate should be changed. Suitable soil pH is 6 to 6.5. A bed that drains well and rejects excess moisture is necessary. Because keeping too much moisture can lead to rotting of onions and problems with fungal diseases. The type of soil used in Iran's farms is often a combination of clay and sand, and less animal manure is used. But in modern cultivation, the combination of pitmas and cocopeat is better. (perlite should be used less because it holds a lot of moisture) For planting in pots, onions can be grown in pots with an opening size of 18 to 20 cm (and more if desired) and with the same height ratio. The planting depth is about 5 to 10 cm. In the field, they usually adjust the distance of the onions in the rows depending on their size. The bigger the onion, the more space it takes between the rows. For example, on average, the distance on the row is 20 cm and between the rows is 30 cm. The planting depth is on average 7 to 10 cm and maximum 15.
