What is ethylene pipe?
Polyethylene pipe, abbreviated as PE, is a type of pipe produced from the polymerization of ethylene. Before producing the final product of polyethylene pipe, polyethylene is produced when ethylene monomers are subjected to polymerization.
Polyethylene is classified in the thermoplastic group, which has thermoplastic properties. It means that it can be changed by heating and melting. Among the characteristics of polyethylene, we can mention resistance, flexibility and a very long life. Polyethylenes are divided into several categories, and the criterion for this division is the density or density of polyethylene at the time of production.
Polyethylene with low density:
LDPE This type of polyethylene has long and more side branches than usual. In this type of polyethylene, the molecular chains are far apart from each other. This long distance causes the density to decrease.
Polyethylene with low -line density:
LLDPE in the polyethylene production process, when normal butene comonomer is added to ethylene, the product will have more side branches but with the same length. Although these branches are long, there are few in the length of the polymer chain. Due to the linearity of the polymer chain, this type of polyethylene is called linear polyethylene.
Polyethylene with moderate density:
MDPE This type of polyethylene has better efficiency than HDPE in terms of resistance and high impact resistance. This polyethylene is used for packaging (bottle caps).
Polyethylene with high density:
HDPE compared to other polyethylenes, this type of polymer chain structure product has a higher crystallinity. Therefore, it has a more compact structure and a higher density, which is why it is called heavy polyethylene. This type of polyethylene has fewer side branches than other polyethylenes.
