The method of diagnosing natural honey

Fake honey is a product that contains cheap ingredients instead of pure honey. In the best possible case, fake and impure samples of honey can be devoid of properties and therapeutic effects. The first and most important harm that fake honey causes to human health is the weakening of the immune system. On the other hand, some products sold in the market as natural honey contain a lot of sugar. Such products will cause diseases such as diabetes.

Different ingredients are used to make counterfeit honey. The most common of these compounds are:

Molasses in honey: Molasses is the result of boiling sugar until it becomes a sticky substance. This substance has a dark brown color and makes honey dark and opaque. At the same time, the taste of such honey is unnaturally and unpleasantly sweet.

Invert Syrup: This thick and glossy liquid, which is mainly made from sugar, is sometimes sold as honey. Invert syrup is produced using refined sugar (through acid hydrolysis). In addition, invert syrup is widely used in confectionery, bakery and cooking industries.

Liquid glucose in honey: many times food factories use liquid glucose to produce sweet products such as honey.

Symptoms of natural honey

The texture of pure honey is a thick liquid. Some types of this product harden due to cold; while it will become liquid again when it is heated. The nectar of different flowers has different taste, color and aroma. Even bees in the same hive and field can produce different honey in different years. For this reason, you cannot use these features to distinguish real honey from fake.
Pure and natural honey usually has a thick and consistent texture. For example, if you dip your finger into a container of honey, the pure sample will completely stick to your finger and stay there. But the impure sample falls off your finger like water.
