Steel products that are directly or indirectly used in the building are called building iron. But these irons are divided into different types, shapes and materials. Each of these categories has unique properties that affect their use. The use of construction iron is such that it is difficult to choose a suitable alternative for each of them. Therefore, at the time of design, care should be taken to select the right item for each purpose. When choosing building materials, it is very important to consider the price of building iron. Especially considering the fluctuations in the price of construction iron, it is appropriate for design engineers to consider the price of construction iron as a key variable in estimating the final cost. Types of construction iron
Construction iron tools have specific names according to the history of their formation. For example, one of the first types of construction iron is beam. Before it is made of iron or steel, the construction beam is used in wooden buildings. After the production of steel beams, the name of iron beam has been given to it. Steel beam got this name due to the history of its use. But it also has a unique name based on its shape. The term iron beam or I-Beam means an iron beam with an English I-shaped cross-section. Therefore, other types of construction iron are also named according to their cross-sectional shape. It should be noted that there are also a group of steel products for which a specific cross-sectional shape cannot be considered. For example, nets or galvanized rabits. Although these products are used in the building, they are not considered among the profiles. With this account, two main categories can be seen in construction iron:
Construction profiles
Based on what was said, construction profiles are a group of construction irons whose cross-sectional shape is constant along their length. The word profile is derived from profile, or in other words, appearance. This type of construction iron, in turn, is divided into two main categories:
Open building profiles:
If the cross-section of the profile forms an open geometric shape, this type of building profile is called an open profile. Examples of these profiles are corner, stud, beam, profile Z, C-purlin, etc.
Package building profiles:
If the cross section of the profile forms a closed geometric shape such as a square, circle or rectangle, it is called a closed structural profile. Construction profile cans, scaffolding pipes, construction columns and furniture pipes are among these types of profiles.
Construction steels
Other steel products that are widely used in building construction, but do not have a specific cross-sectional shape like profiles, are called construction steels. These types of steel can be in the form of sheets, such as black sheets, galvanized sheets or oiled sheets, as well as colored sheets. They can be used in the form of nets or wires like wire products.
It should be noted that all types of rebars, especially ribbed rebars, are practically considered one of the most important building materials. Rebars are also considered profiles due to having a specific cross-sectional shape in one length. This type of construction iron is more known as steel sections or steel sections.
Types of iron profiles
Now that we are familiar with the general concepts of construction iron, we will examine the types of profiles together. This category is regardless of open construction profile or closed construction profile. In a way, its arrangement is based on the priorities of these profiles in the use in the building.
Ribbed rebar
Deformed steel rebar is one of the types of construction iron that is used in building construction. The main use of rebar is in the construction of foundations. From ribbed rebar, products such as zigzag rebar, Khamut, cane, stirrup, pin are produced and all of them are used in concrete reinforcement. Ribbed rebar has taken on the task of resisting tensile and shear forces in reinforced concrete. One of the best rebars available in the construction industry is Migard Zoubi. This rebar is one of the products of Isfahan Iron Smelting Factory. Of course, the rebar produced by other factories, which are known in the market as Misc. Maglard, also have good standard conditions.
