If the gear of the car is on position D and you take your foot off the brake pedal, the car will start. Therefore, it is recommended to check the condition of the gear and put your foot on the brake before starting. N mode is also for free gear. This mode is for when you are standing behind a red light.
It should be noted that the gas pedal plays an important role in cars equipped with automatic transmission. In these cars, the more you press your foot on the gas pedal, the lighter the accelerator becomes and the faster you accelerate. Not pressing your foot on the gas pedal means a heavy gear, which is very helpful on downhills.
