Whether you are an experienced beekeeper or a novice beekeeper, or even looking for a new hobby, we can provide you with the right information in this article about the equipment needed for successful beekeeping. We have to provide you.

Initial beekeeping equipment

The need for beekeeping equipment varies according to the size of the operation, the number of colonies and the type of harvested product (honey, royal jelly, propolis, pollen and queen) that you intend to produce. But to start working and produce the primary bee product, which is honey, you need a series of basic supplies, which we will describe below.

Wooden beehive

A beehive is a man-made structure in which a colony of honey bees live. Over the years, a wide variety of hives have been created. Today, most beekeepers use the Langströt hive or the modern ten-frame hive.

Hive pieces are cut to standard dimensions that resemble the space that bees naturally leave between their combs. The outer covering of the hive provides weather protection. The inner cover prevents bees from sticking to the outer cover and insulates the hive space. The beehive hatch is the place where bees travel.

Hive frames

Wooden frames hold sheets of beeswax and are part of the main structure inside the hive. In standard hives, the number of these frames is ten.

Sheet

To start the work of the bees in the hive, it is necessary to make natural beeswax in the shape of hexagonal houses (so-called treaded wax) and glue it to the frame of the hive. There is a ready-made sheet of treaded wax.

This sheet of waxes is sewn to the frame by means of galvanized wire, and it is suggested that this step should not be done by novice beekeepers and should be prepared or get help from an experienced beekeeper. But the quality of this wax is very important and it must be completely pure and natural to have the best results.

Smoky

Beekeeping gloves

Beekeeping

Beekeeping clothing includes shirts and pants that keep you safe from bee stings. The most expensive beekeeping clothing is not always the best or easiest to use. But it must have the necessary standard and the beekeeper should be comfortable in it.
Having pockets in these clothes is considered an advantage.

Beekeeping hat

is probably the most important tool a beekeeper uses to keep safe. Even the gentlest of bees can sometimes sting. Unfortunately, you never know when that time will be.

A bite on the face or scalp is especially painful, so hats are at the top of the list. Also, bees are naturally curious about small openings such as nostrils and ears.

Lever of the hive

Sometimes it is necessary to open the top of the hive or loosen the frame because bees really like a cozy home and stick everything together with propolis. This is where hive leverage comes into play. These are really cheap and totally worth buying instead of using something at home.

Beekeeping brush

When you remove a frame from the hive, you will most likely need to remove the bees from it. If you shake the frame a bit, most of them will go away, but there are always a few that won't come down. The beekeeping brush has long and strong bristles, but it is not hard, which gently knocks the bees away.

Beekeeping fork

When extracting honey from wax, you need to cover the wax (wax flakes) so that the honey inside can be separated. Flake forks are an inexpensive tool that allows you to just remove the caps from the comb.

Extruder or honeycomb

The extractor is a device for separating honey from the wax inside the frames. For this reason, it is at the bottom of the list of beekeeping supplies. You don't need it right away, but this device is a great way to get honey from the hive frame.

The extractor comes in two electric and manual models, with the manual model being the most economical. It is suggested that beekeepers use the manual model of this device. In the continuation of beekeeping work and for honey packaging, other equipments such as honey strainer or honey catcher are needed, which are not mandatory to prepare at the beginning of the work.
