This type of laser uses solids as laser medium and laser power. In solid lasers, crystalline or glass materials are used. These ions are introduced as impurities in the desired object, and as a result, they cause laser intensity. The first laser that was used as a solid laser was the ruby laser, in which ruby crystal is used as the laser medium. The source of energy in this type of laser is light energy.

Fiber laser is a special type of solid state laser that is in a category of its own. In fiber lasers, the gain medium is an optical fiber (silica glass) mixed with a rare earth element. In these lasers, the laser beam is more direct and smaller than other types of lasers, making it more accurate. Fiber lasers are also known for their small footprint, good electrical efficiency, low maintenance, and low operating costs. Fiber lasers are used in a wide range of applications, including material processing (laser cleaning, texturing, cutting, welding, marking), medicine, and directed energy weapons. Due to the power of the laser in gas lasers and due to having high quality rays as well as a very high wavelength, they have many uses. This type of laser is the first laser that works based on the conversion of electrical energy into light energy.

One of the most important types of lasers in our daily life are semiconductor lasers. Semiconductor lasers have a very reasonable price and consume little power. Semiconductor laser power is provided by electrical energy, unlike solid lasers that use light energy as a pump source.

Liquid laser is another type of laser that uses liquid as a laser medium. With the help of liquid laser power, the energy of the laser environment can be supplied by means of light. One of the most important types of this laser is the color laser that uses organic dyes as the laser medium. Another use of laser in liquid environments can be mentioned for infrared production.
