Air pressure: Air pressure is expressed in bar or pascal and indicates the strength of the air pressure coming out of the pump. For most painting applications, a pressure between 6 and 10 times is enough.

 Flow rate: Air flow rate is measured in CFM (cubic feet per minute) and indicates how much air volume the air pump can move per minute. For normal painting, a flow rate of 10 to 15 CFM is sufficient. 

  Amount of noise produced:  Air pumps can produce a lot of noise which can be annoying. Especially if you plan to use the pump in residential areas, look for models that produce low noise.

  Portability: If you plan to move the pump regularly, Look for models that are light in weight and small in size.
