What is a septor filter?
Separator filter (SEPARATOR FILTER) in screw compressors means separating air from oil. This filter is different from filters whose function is to separate impurities in oil or air. Its task is to separate oil particles from air. The basis of this part's work in oil screw compressors is that after leaving the air block (Airend) for compression, it enters the separator tank through the air and oil line. It consists of two phases consisting of air and oil, and to separate the outgoing air from the tank and oil, it needs a separator filter, which this part is responsible for.
Types of filters of septors
Filters of separators are classified into 2 main categories based on the location and the shape of the bowl at the end of the filter.
Filter of the reservoir septor (internal)
This type of filter is installed inside the separator tank, and at the end of this type of filter, it is in the shape of a bowl, where the filtered oil is stored, and it is drained by the suction line; The air flow in this filter is from outside to inside.

Cartridge Separator Filter (Foreign)
The cartridge or external separator filter is placed on the tank, which is a newer design than the filters inside the tank. And due to these filters being placed outside the tank, their installation and replacement is faster and easier. The air flow in this filter is from inside to outside.

Time
The time to change the filter of separators is usually determined by the manufacturer. The separator filter of compressors becomes saturated after passing the specified operating time and loses its function, which causes the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the filter element to rise. Usually, the duration of useful operation of the separator filter is between 1000 and 4000 hours, which depends on the type and quality of the material used, environmental conditions, the amount of polluting particles in the air, and most importantly, the quality of the special oil used in the compressor, and is directly related to the performance of the compressor. And its high working temperature is related. If there is a problem with it during operation, it will be determined by the instruments built on the compressor and the set points defined on the control panel. In some cases, according to different conditions, including the presence of oil in the compressor output, it can be noticed that the quality is low or it is damaged.
