Kurdish dress is one of the oldest local dresses in Iran, which has a very long history. For example, the hats carved in the reliefs of Persepolis are quite similar to the hats found in Kurdish clothing. In fact, the hats carved in the Achaemenian reliefs are the hats of the Medes, but because the Medes lived in the western parts of the country, the Kurds consider their clothing to be from that period.

Shirt or cross

The shirt or cross is made in full length and is tapered in the armpit to the bottom. This shirt has very beautiful sequin embroidery that continues from below the chest to the lower waist. The material of this shirt is usually silk or colorful velvet. In the armpit of the cross, there is a piece called a bird, and its sleeve is usually simple, but sometimes it has a long, triangular tail, which is called a senbuse. These types of sleeves are usually used for celebrations in such a way that they leave the cuff of the sleeve during the dance to hang and hang like a handkerchief during the dance movements.

College

Kalanjeh is a sleeveless tank top that is worn over a shirt and has different models.

Yale

Yale is a type of short coat that has long sleeves and does not meet at the front. This type of coat has a slit in the armpit and is usually made of velvet and zari fabrics.

The vest plays an important role in Kurdish clothing, which is usually made of colored velvet fabrics. The vest has impressive embellishments that include wide fittings, stripes and lots of sequins. The vest is usually full of gold and silver coins from the shoulders to the sides.

Kabe

Qoba is prepared in full length and it is worn over the shirt. This type of dress closes with a button at the collar joint and the front is open to the bottom. Qaba has pockets on both sides and a 3 cm wide black strip is sewn on the side of the collar and around the skirt.

Lacquer or scarf

Lakh or scarf has three sides, two of which are rooted. Each side of the lace is about two and a half meters long, and its material is plain or flowery lace. Its simple side is put on the turban and its two rooted corners are placed on the shoulder. The rooted parts of the lace are gathered in front of the chest and pass it through a wooden ring that has the shape of flowers and bushes.

Ornamental napkin

This kerchief is a triangular fabric with colorful lace material. This handkerchief is decorated with geometric motifs and gold thread, and women weave the two corners of this so that it becomes like a one-meter rope, and they tie it all around using golden thread so that it does not unravel. An ornamental handkerchief is used in different ways, for example, sometimes it is placed on the shoulder or right and left arm, and the ends of the two corners are wrapped around the neck and tied at the back of the neck.

Waist scarf

Waist shawl is usually made of cashmere or silk. This cloth shawl is 3 to 4 times the length of the hips and 70 to 80 cm wide, which is sewn in two layers.
