Before going to the types of power generators, we must have a correct understanding of the generator's application and concept. A generator is basically a device that is used to produce electrical energy. The basis of many systems in industry is electrical energy. Therefore, many systems are not able to work unless there is a generator. The main task of the generator is to produce electricity by means of mechanical energy. This device produces electrical energy when necessary, such as a power outage, and prevents the system from shutting down. Some generators are powered by fossil fuels and others by storing electrical energy in batteries.

Types of Generator in terms of performance

Generators are categorized into emergency, basic, permanent and multipurpose types in terms of performance. Emergency generators are used during sudden power outages. These generators supply the required electricity when the power supply system is interrupted. Basic generators, however, are used in a place that needs electricity temporarily. These generators are used in places such as camps, construction, half mines and camps and are portable.

generators in terms of generating electricity production

Generators are mainly produced as single-phase generators and three-phase generators. The output power in the single-phase generator has a voltage of 220 volts AC, and the output power in the three-phase generator has a voltage of 400 volts AC. But if the three-phase generator is to be used in industrial purposes and power plants, the voltage of 6300 is used. Basically, the three-phase generator is used in large industries. Three-phase generators have at least three conductors, each of which carries alternating current and has a phase difference of 120 degrees with each other.

The three-phase generator is used to start the pump, electric motor and other devices that need three-phase power to turn on. In a three-phase generator, the distance between the coils is 120 degrees on the stator. Therefore, three-phase electricity is induced to the generator in the form of three sine waves with a time interval of 120 degrees. One of the advantages of using a three-phase generator is that the current power is constant and the power does not fluctuate over time. This is despite the fact that in a single-phase generator, the power of the device is momentarily fluctuating.
