What is a mosaic?
Patchwork means patching pieces of something, which can include wood, metal, stone, tile, and even fabric. Maraq is one of the native and exquisite arts of the Middle East and Iranians, which has been able to give life to such beautiful and exquisite inanimate pieces of wood and give it the spirit of art.
The dictionary of the dictionary has suggested the word Parechin instead of the Arabic word Ma'raq. The equivalent of this word in French is Mosaïque, which of course is different from the Persian meaning of mosaic. In any case, maraqari means putting together small pieces and turning it into a big and meaningful design. (Like a puzzle) Many people mistakenly think that mosaic work is done only with wood, while various tools, including leaves, can also be used for mosaic designs.
Wood mosaic
Al-Maraq Kari or Pare Chin is a kind of art that comes from arranging and placing small pieces, such as metal, bone, shell, tile, wood, etc., and turning it into a single design. Wood carving is one of the most original and prominent handicrafts of our country, Iran, which is world famous. Different types of wood that have different colors are usually used in wood carving so that there is no need to paint the wooden parts. The smaller and more pieces the design has, the more valuable it is. Thin pieces of wood are cut with a hacksaw.
