Dry transformer
There is no liquid cooling in this system and its windings are covered with epoxy resin to protect against air humidity; Therefore, air is used to cool it. Air is not a good insulator; As a result, in the structure of this transformer, large coils have been used to compensate for the high temperature. In addition, for this reason, it is not possible to use this type at voltages higher than 33 kV. The weak cooling system of this dry transformer has caused them to be exposed to excessive heat during operation. This high temperature by itself reduces the useful life of the transformer.
Oil transformer
The cooling system used in this type of transformer is flammable oil. One of the advantages of this cooling system compared to the previous one is better cooling. For this reason, this system is usually used for high-power transformers that are in harsh outdoor environments.
Of course, the oil transformer is not perfect, and due to the oil tanks and sensors needed to monitor the humidity, the dimensions They are very big. In addition, oil is flammable; As a result, oil transformer is not suitable for indoor use.
Control transformer
is a type of transformer whose coils are electrically separated and, as the name implies, is used for control. Different types of voltage or voltage transistors are among their various types.
Auto transformer or automatic transformer
This transformer has three heads, two of which are fixed and one variable. In order to change the number of turns of the coils, the variable head can be moved. This easily increases and decreases the voltage.
Power transformer
Transplant is used to increase and reduce voltage in power plants. The operating voltage in these transformers is high and its size is very large.
Distribution transformer
Distribution transformers are used to distribute the consumed electricity to domestic and commercial units. These transformers must reduce the voltages of the transmission lines to the level of domestic and standard voltages. These types of transformers are smaller than the types of power transformers.

Three-phase electricity is more efficient than single-phase electricity; For this reason, the use of three-phase transformers is more due to their efficiency and reasonable price. But in some cases, single-phase transformers are more useful due to their smaller dimensions and easier transportation.
