The cylinder bush is a hollow cylindrical piece that is placed inside each of the holes in the cylinder body, and the piston moves back and forth inside it. In this research, macrostructure analysis, dimension measurement, analysis of the chemical composition of cylinder bush material, mechanical properties (hardness tests), corrosion investigation, microstructure investigation using scanning electron optical microscope to investigate the cause of failure of diesel engine cylinder bushing were discussed. The comparison of corrosion in the coated bush without coating is investigated. The results showed that the coated type has a high corrosion resistance compared to the uncoated type.
The cylinder bush is a part that can be seen in all engines, but in some of them this part is connected to the cylinder body and is not cooled directly, but in others, the bush is a separate part that is cooled by water between it and the cylinder body. . In some engines, the bush is not in contact with water and it is called a dry bush. On the other hand, in some engines, the bushing is in direct contact with water and is cooled, which is called a cooler bushing.
The cause of Bush's failure
These three parts are constantly in friction with each other and are usually worn out due to high engine operation. Among the other causes of failure of these three parts are: 1- Applying excessive pressure to the engine 2- Use of wrong or poor quality engine oil 3-Low quality of engine parts 4- Breaking the piston ring 5- Breaking the piston, journal and connecting rod In some rare cases, a lot of gasoline leakage in the piston head causes the ring to dry out and eventually causes corrosion in the bushing chamber. Using a low-quality rim can damage the housing of the bush.
