The process of mold making is called molding, which is one of the most widely used industries in Iran and the world. The mold is actually a container in which the malleable material is placed inside or outside so that the material takes shape according to the pattern of the mold. The tool that forms a part is a mold and the person who performs the process of designing and making the mold is called a mold maker.

In general, molds can be divided into five general categories: cooling mold, heating mold, injection mold, pressing mold and compression mold.

The molds are made in two steps. The first stage is the design of the mold, which is designed by advanced systems and 3D scanning, and then it is manufactured by different devices.

Nowadays, many softwares have been developed for 3D design of an object, but in general, designers use CATIA and IMOLD programs the most in this field.

Great diversity in application, increasing speed and accuracy, reducing production cost and higher resistance are among the advantages of plastic molding.
