What is a plastic injection mold?

Plastic injection molds can be considered one of the most widely used injection molds in various industries in the world. In fact, the final product in the process of producing parts with such molds will be made of plastic. If you take a general look at the components of the plastic injection mold, you will realize that the plastic mold is made of two steel plates along with other components that are finally placed in an injection molding machine. Plastic molds are divided into two groups, thermoplastic (thermoplastic) and thermoset (thermohard) based on the characteristics of plastics. Plastic injection molds are used to produce various plastic parts. The production process of the parts must be done with high precision in order to keep the polymer melt well and have excellent heat transfer. In this case, the piece can be easily removed from the plastic mold. Also, in addition to the high manufacturing quality, the created piece is also resistant to the high pressure of the melt.

Design and manufacture of plastic injection mold

One of the critical steps in the plastic molding process is the design and manufacture of the plastic injection mold. The process of designing and making plastic injection molds allows the production of plastic parts with high precision and quality. This process includes 3D design of the mold, selection of suitable materials, injection of plastic materials and extraction of plastic parts. One of the most important steps in designing a plastic injection mold is the three-dimensional design of the mold. Using 3D modeling software, the desired plastic injection mold is precisely designed and molded.

At this stage, the geometrical and mechanical principles of the mold are well examined to ensure the strength and optimal performance of the plastic injection mold. Then, the plastic molding stage begins. It is very important to choose the right material for making the mold. Alloy steels with superior mechanical properties and resistance to pressure and heat are used as one of the usual options in plastic molding.

Next, the step of injecting plastic materials into the mold takes place. This step includes choosing the right plastic material, setting the right temperature and pressure for injection, and the right injection time. In the process of plastic molding, plastic parts are produced with high quality and suitable density, and plastic molding is done in a principled way.

What are the components of plastic injection mold?

In general, semi-moving and semi-fixed parts are considered as plastic injection mold components. The semi-fixed parts of the mold are connected to the injection device and are placed in place without moving anywhere. The semi-moving parts are connected to the moving part of the injection machine and after the completion of the plastic injection operation, they are separated until the final part is removed from it. The structure and components of the plastic injection mold are:

1. The mold chamber includes the cavity and the mold muscle is injected. In fact, the cavity is the female part of the mold that creates the external shape of the part, and the muscle is the male part of the mold that forms the internal shape of the part. 2. The cavity plate on which the recessed part of the mold is placed. 3. The muscle plate on which the protruding part of the mold is mounted. Small parts and details are also seen among the components of the plastic injection mold; But in general, when the mold is closed, the two plates of the cavity and the muscle are placed on top of each other and the polymer melt enters the space between them.
