Split duct is a type of central cooling system specially designed for installation in large buildings. This system has excellent performance with maximum cooling efficiency when you follow the principles of piping correctly.
What is Duct Split?
Duct split piping is a stage of the facility for physical communication in order to move the refrigerant gas between the external unit (condensing unit) and the internal panel (evaporator). Also, to cover the heating mode, hot water piping is used to feed the heating coil and drain the water in the condenser of the system. Copper pipes of various thicknesses are used for split duct piping in the refrigeration department. The thickness of the wall and the size of the pipes are calculated according to the working pressure of the system and the cooling capacity of the split duct. But in the heating part of this system, steel pipes or 5-layer polymer pipes are usually used.
Pipe Connection Method in Duct Split
Connecting copper pipes to each other is one of the key steps in the way of split duct piping, which is necessary to be done with full precision and there are no leaks. This work is done through gas-air welding using silver or brass wires. The pipes must be locked together and then the seam between them must be welded. To perform this method, the opening of one of the pipes is made in the shape of a tulip so that we can fasten the other pipe inside the first pipe by widening the opening a little. Then around the joint will be soldered using welding wire. In any case, we are not allowed to connect the pipes butt to each other.
But the method of connecting the pipes to the internal and external units of the split duct system is done through bolts and nuts. Note that the size of bolts and nuts used in split duct units is selected according to the capacity of the pipes and is generally larger than conventional air conditioner systems.
