Curtain wall view or lamella view is a glass view that directs the weight of the glass and the energy from wind and rain to the outer shell of the building. Lamel facade or curtain wall is one of the modern facades of a building, which has a self-standing structure. In this method, the weight of the glass is on the curtain wall structure, or the corresponding slats and chassis, and does not impose any dead load on the building.

What is Curtain Wall's view?

Curtain wall facade is a glass facade that, if installed correctly, the weight of the glass and the load of energy from wind, storms and rains is usually on the outer shell of the facade of the building and does not affect the building itself. It can be said that the curtain wall system is a separate structure in the building. Curtain wall facade, which is equivalent to curtain wall in Farsi, is one of the types of glass facades of the building and is considered the best in terms of structural issues in height. In this type of facade, light materials are usually used, especially combinations of aluminum and glass.

This glass facade is one of the dry and ventilated facades. Aluminum lamella structure has the ability to install other covering materials such as ceramic composite aluminum sheet. In the previous generation, when the frameless system was installed on iron, there were insulation problems. Curtain wall facades are called static structures because they do not impose any load on the building. The chassis of this facade carries the force of their own weight and side forces such as wind and storm, etc.

Types of Curtain Wall

The difference between curtain wall systems is in how to fix the glass in the space between the lamellas. This difference in stabilizing the glass makes the exterior look different. There are many types of curtain wall, and the most widely used ones, which you must have seen a lot in the buildings built in the alleys and streets around your place of residence, are glass curtain wall facades. Below we will describe 4 different types of this system.

Frameless curtain wall view (Frameless)
In the frameless curtain wall view, the cover is not used on the outer surface of the view. Structural adhesives are used to stabilize the glass in the space between the lamellae. After modulating with lamellas, the glass is again placed in the aluminum coil and fixed between the lamellas. As a result, a relatively uniform outer surface of the glass is created. Face cap curtain wall view In the face cap view (with cover), after installing the horizontal and vertical slats, the glass is installed between these slats. Then the glasses are installed in place by connecting the cap with the nose of the lamellae. The caps used have different colors and shapes (rectangular, round, etc.) and can be implemented with different lengths and depths. Semi frameless system This method is a combination of face cap and frameless facade, which gives a different look to the exterior of the building. In the half-frame system, according to the architectural design, in order to stabilize the glass in one of the horizontal or vertical directions, a cap can be used and in the other direction, glue or rubber can be used. U channel method The U-channel system can be considered a subset of frameless or full frameless, with the difference that in this method, aluminum coil around the glass is not used. By using special glass spacers and placing these parts in a puzzle-like manner in the empty space inside the spacer and using structure glue, we get a look similar to frameless. The cost of this method is lower than the frameless method.
