Welding is one of the production methods. Its purpose is to permanently connect engineering materials (metal, ceramic, polymer, composite) to each other; So that the properties of the connection are equal to the properties of the base material. In addition, it is one of the processes of permanent connection of parts (metallic or non-metallic), by melting or non-melting method, with or without applying pressure, with or without the use of filler. Welding processes are divided into two main categories: fusion welding processes and non-fusion welding processes.
A variety of welding models
Fusion welding
Fusion welding leads to the connection of parts by creating heat. In this welding model, pressure is not used and different melting sources are used to join the parts. By the way, in this process, filler or welding filler is sometimes used, and sometimes it is not needed. In general, fusion welding is divided into the following groups in terms of its energy source:
Arc welding
In arc welding, an electric arc is used to generate heat with the purpose of melting and connecting parts. A power source is also used for the electric arc between the electrode and the part; That's why some people call it arc welding. In addition, there are different types of arc welding, among which arc welding with shielding gas and tungsten electrode, arc welding with coated manual electrode, arc welding with shielding gas and metal electrode, hydrogen welding, topoudry, carbon arc and plasma arc. did.
Electron beam welding
Electron beam welding uses a beam containing high-speed electrons to produce heat and connect parts. When the electrons enter the material, the necessary heat is formed on its surface, which melts the part and creates a suitable heat for welding. Since the electron beam has a lot of energy, the welds are usually deep and narrow. In addition, its types include electron beam welding, electron beam welding in relative and extreme vacuum.
Laser beam welding
Laser beam welding is another fusion welding model that welds parts using a laser beam. This model works for metals and polymers and its accuracy is very high. This welding is usually used when the production is high.
Non-melting welding (solid state)
Non-melting welding connects materials with the help of pressure and heat and sometimes does not even use heat. Non-melting model processes include friction welding, penetration welding and welding with ultrasonic waves. Friction welding produces heat with mechanical energy or friction. In general, there is no melting of materials in its processes, and the parts are usually connected to each other without heat.
The welding process
The welding process has made significant progress in recent decades; This development has greatly affected the lifestyle of people. In the past, when the name welding was mentioned, it usually meant welding metals; But today, welding is done on materials such as glass, ceramic and plastic.
These materials are subjected to welding temperature with pressure or without pressure in order to integrate and get a uniform appearance. The most important welding processes include coated electrode arc welding, tungsten arc welding with shielding gas, oxyacetylene welding, powder electrode arc welding, metal arc welding with shielding gas, etc.

Welding applications
Welding applications in industry are very important and decisive. Many parts of buildings, bridges, ships, trains, etc. are made by welding process. Welding uses are not limited to these items; This process works from making airplanes to building rockets and even plays an influential role in the space industry. Therefore, as it has been said, welding has greatly contributed to the improvement of today's life, and its traces can be seen in various fields.
The welding process is also used in other areas such as automobile manufacturing, computer parts production, agricultural equipment manufacturing and home appliances. Drilling equipment, furnaces, boilers, railways, etc. are also made by welding. In general, welding is one of those processes that have had various uses from the past to the present. This operation of attaching parts has special uses even in the future. Many permanent space bases are supposed to be created with the help of welding. More than thousands of products have been produced by the welding process till date and their quality is at a high level due to the standard welding. In other words, when using various types of steel sections such as rebar, beam, various types of sheets or pipes, they are connected by welding process.
Welding tools and equipment
Welding operation is done with the help of special tools and equipment. These tools must be of high quality and safe so that they do not cause problems during welding. In total, more than a dozen welding tools and equipment have been produced to date, which we have listed below:
If you are in Karaj, one of the good schools we recommend is Arman Welding School located in Karaj. Arman Welding School provides training in all welding processes (argon, co2, electrode, oxy gas, powder coating, sub-powder coating) Valid international technical and professional degree with more than 22 years of brilliant experience with the aim of conducting research activities and providing scientific, technical, engineering and inspection services, consulting. Training in the field of welding, inspection and quality control was established as the representative and executive arm of the IIW International Institute of Welding.
